Buyers: Company knew of limited lifetime

A Boca Raton company accused of knowingly selling an outdated product to thousands of customers nationwide will have to defend its actions in court, under a ruling issued earlier this month.
ADT, one of the biggest makers of burglar and fire alarm systems, sold an alarm component that relies on analog phone signals shortly before a government mandate to move to digital signals took effect, a lawsuit alleges.
The company challenged the suit, which was filed under Florida's unfair and deceptive trade practices law, but U.S. District Judge Donald M. Middlebrooks allowed it to go forward.
